High Performance / Blueprint Machine Package

 

    • Strip and Thermo clean block
    • Visual inspection of block
    • Pressure check

By pressure testing the water jackets you are assured that you have no hidden cracks or porosity in castings, which may or may not be repairable

    • Magnaflux

Block is magnafluxed to check for cracks on decks, main webs and other high stress areas

    • Sonic test bores

Sonic testing is a nondestructiveway to measure cylinder wall thickness

    • Align hone main bores

Align honing main bearings allows perfect bearing crush and main bearing bore alignment

    • Block is probed for bore location, existing deck heights, and checking cam to crank center line locations

By probing bores and sonic testing, you have the option of relocating the bore to possibly save wall thickness or correct a problem with bore geometry without the danger of making a cylinder wall too thin. Probing the cam centerline will allow you to obtain the correct timing chain dimension on your first try. When working with 40 year old blocks you never know how many times it may have been align honed or align bored or possibly had an undetected OE Manufacturing defect

    • Square deck block to any deck height with any finish

Square decking makes the deck parallel to the main bores of the crankshaft and corrects the bankAngle to a perfect 90º

    • Bore cylinders to exact blueprint locations 90º to the deck and crankshaft centerline
    • Hone bores with deck plates

Blocks are honed on our Sunnen CV616 to any finish or bore clearance you desire. We would be happy to lend our opinion where it may be needed. We use BH & J Deck Plates and the same head gasket and fasteners you will use on your assembly.

    • Hone lifter bores

Lifter bores are rigid honed to remove high spots and restore roundness. This will maintain a uniform oil film and allow the lifter to rotate in its bore properly.

    • Install freeze and oil plugs
    • Install and broach towershaft bushing
    • Install cam bearings and fit to camshaft
    • Install new deck dowel pins
    • Final clean for assembly

Brush all oil galleys. Scrub block with soap and water. Hot power wash and dry. Cylinder walls are cleaned with high detergent oil. Block is wrapped for assembly.

Correct lifter bore geometry and clocking by bushing lifter bores. This will assure you perfect cam timing on every cylinder and stops excess oil leakage and aeration, a big problem with mechanical roller cams
